Transcription, Technology, & Support (TTS) is a full service medical transcription company located in New Hampshire and Florida, but operating across the US with all MTs working remotely from their home offices.
We are writing here to consolidate information regarding our company in an effort to expedite the recruiting process. Please do not hesitate to raise any questions you have. Once you have reviewed the information below, we would like to arrange a telephone interview so that we may further answer questions you have and allow us an opportunity to understand what you are looking for in a company and as a position with our team. All positions are available immediately, so we are trying to be as responsive as possible to get through this process.
TTS works with experienced Medical Language Specialists, as either employees (EEs) or as Independent Contractors (ICs). We do not send any work, under any circumstances off-shore. For most positions we require a minimum of 3 years current acute care experience (minimum 3 years acute care experience within the past 5 years). We are looking for MTs who are dedicated professionals. TTS would ask you to sign a confidentiality agreement, and agree to remain compliant with HIPAA regulations.
Production time is tracked off the technology system and monitors the time you are actually in the document working (hands on the keyboard or foot on the pedal). If you are idle in excess of 4 minutes the time stops tracking. You must remain actively working. If you are researching etc, give it 3 minutes. If unable to find, leave a blank and move on. The production time is the remote method of “punching the clock” and is monitored daily.
Benefits are available to full time employees, including health insurance which is available through United HealthCare nationally, including vision. Dental is also available. TTS pays 50% of the employee baseline premium. The employee’s portion of premium is deducted from paycheck each period, pre-tax. Paid time off is accrued in 3 separate categories of vacation (5 days), holiday (5 days), and sick/personal time (5 days). All benefits are available after 90 days.
We also offer rate differential which applies to your “total rate” based on your routine schedule. This cannot be calculated until you are working a consistent schedule; and will be established based on routine schedule for nights and weekends. Once calculated the higher rate is paid for all work performed.
Part time is available to employees, but is limited to a minimum of 20 hours. Benefits are not available to part time employees.
As an Independent Contractor, you would be responsible for your own taxes; TTS does not withhold. At the end of the year, you would receive a 1099. Also a W9 is required. TTS is looking for a commitment in volume of work and a window of when this work will be performed. The extent of the window of flexibility allowed is based on the specific account needs. Some accounts which offer 24-hour TAT can provider a broader window, than other accounts which require close management to meet the needs of the facility. As an IC, you would have flexibility in your schedule; however TTS requests that you notify of changes in your schedule in advance, unless an emergency. We limit the changes to routine schedules/commitments to once in a six month period unless mutually agreed.
Paychex: We utilize Paychex as a payroll service for both our employees and our independent contractors. Pay is processed every 2 weeks and everything is done electronic. Cycles run Sunday through Saturday and the direct deposits are made to your bank account every other Friday. Your check stub is available on line through Paychex’s website.
Definition of Line count:
eScription: 65 character line count including spaces, tokens, as well as an additional 5 lines per document to compensate for the demographic and carbon information that would otherwise appear in a header/footer.
Dictaphone: 65 character line count including spaces, headers, footers, tokens.
Tokens are category headers (past medical history, history of present illness etc) that are inserted whether the MD dictates or not from the speech technology. Most companies do not pay for these.
The MT is responsible for their home-office environment. Internet connectivity, MS Word or Office, medical spell-checker, and reference materials are needed to work as a medical transcriptionist and are not provided by TTS. We will do what we can to support the MT in establishing and setting these up; but ultimately the responsibility is yours.
